He compiled the Adi Granth — the original Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji — gathering shabads from the previous Gurus and 15 Bhagats from many faiths. He completed Harmandir Sahib with doors on all four sides to welcome people of every faith. He was tortured and gave his life in 1606, becoming the first Shaheed of Sikhi.
